Just got our power after six days. Got home from waiting 3 hours on line for gas and, miracle of miracles, the lights were on! First thing I did was turn up the heat because it has been soooo cold. Long Island still has a lot of damage and we send our love to everyone who is still in the dark. Hope you are all safe!!! XOXOXO

*I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.

*I am the person who is afraid of telling his loving Christian parents he loves another male.

*I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.

*I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.

*We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.

*I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.

*I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.

*I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.

*I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school. It was simply too much to bear.

*We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.

*I am the person who never knows which bathroom I should use if I want to avoid getting the management called on me.

*I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.

*I am the domestic-violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.

*I am the domestic-violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.

*I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.

*I am the home-economics teacher who always wanted to teach gym until someone told me that only lesbians do that.

*I am the man who died when the paramedics stopped treating me as soon as they realized I was transsexual.

*I am the person who feels guilty because I think I could be a much better person if I did not have to always deal with society hating me.

*I am the man who stopped attending church, not because I don't believe, but because they closed their doors to my kind.

*I am the person who has to hide what this world needs most, love.

Re-post this if you believe homophobia/transphobia is wrong. Please do your part to end it.

... family and friends who have lost the battle with cancer; and in support of the ones who continue to conquer it! Post this on your LJ if you know someone who has or had cancer. 93% won't copy and paste this. Will you?

I'm awful! I never realize how much time goes by between my posts. I am on this journal every day. I read everyone's posts, stories and comment but I never write. Sometimes at work, in the middle of the day, I take the time to read some of your wonderful writing. The last time I wrote a woman at my office had just passed on. Since then I've had a car accident, my son broke his leg and needed surgery, we've moved house, my youngest son started college, my two daughters visited - one from Florida and one from Alaska, I've taken three business trips................Well, you get the idea. I should write in here every day. All of you are so faithful in sharing your lives. I must say all the wonderful posts and stories I read really help me get through a lot.

One other thing - I spent a lot of time working on Obama's campaign and I am sooooo happy. I can't believe we actually have some hope for a new future in this country. I am 60 - so living through the Civil Rights movement made me think we would never see this day. I've been working on women's rights for 30 years and my next goal is to see a woman president in my lifetime. All you young women out there - keep the faith and work toward this next goal. Next post I promise to tell you about a great women's organization out there that could really use your help and support. And I'll do it soon - not 6 months from now!

Thank you to all of you who commented and emailed for your love and support. It was a hard day. No one felt like working. Her daughter worked in the office as well. She had just gotten married and finished her Master's. Her mother was so proud. No one knew how to go and tell her that her mother had died in her office. Again, remember to tell all close to you how much you love and appreciate all they do. Love and hugs to all of you!

Such a sad incident at our office this morning. The nicest lady, the HR person, had a heart attack at her desk and died. We are all numb. She was fine and happy this morning and the next minute she died. A reminder to tell people you love them and appreciate them. She was younger than me. Makes you aware of how fragile life is. Love to all of you!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope you all have lots to be thankful for this year. I know I do!

One more thing - I feel like such a techno idiot. Can someone tell me how to post a userpic and where do you get them? You all have such lovely pictures with your journals and mine always seems pretty "blah!" with nothing there, but I haven't figured it out. If anyone can give me step by step instructions , I'd love to add a picture - but you have to really guide me through it! Anyone?

Sheesh!!! I can't believe how long it's been since I posted. I am on my Friends page every day - sometimes more than once - but I seem to let so much time go by before I say two words myself. I've always been afraid of putting my own thoughts and ideas out for everyone to see. Have to start using this as a place to let my thoughts run away with me.

There has been so much out there recently regarding censorship and what is going on here. I agree with many of you that this is a community of like minded people who are all interested in the same things. Only those of us here should worry about what goes in our journals. They are for us to see. It may have to be that we all Friends-lock our journals so that not everything is public to everyone. I'd hate to think that it would come to that.

I guess we do have to be aware that there are unscrupulous people who would use journals in the wrong way. Those definitely should be censored. And, perhaps using characters definitely underage in compromising ways may be offensive to many. But, then, they don't have to go there and read it. Pedophiles are definitely predators who need to be stopped and if we think that someone is using LJ in that way, maybe we should be aware of the dangers there. However, most of us are just crazy about the people we read and write about and think of them in loving ways. What is the harm in that?

I'm interested in all the discussions going on and would love to hear people's thoughts. My feeling is that we are all adults - I think - and who is to tell us what we can and cannot read or write. Who decides? If you don't like it, don't read it. We should all make the choices for ourselves.

In case you all leave here, I've opened up a GreatestJournal so I don't lose all of you and your wonderful writing.

Hi again all! Wanted to thank you all for your emails and comments. I really don't know what was wrong. I was logged in but there was a strange message that all my friends' comments must have been over two weeks old or that I hadn't any friends listed. It was all fine last night and then I was bummed that the page was blank today. Just a bit ago it all came back and I was able to read all your comments and get them in my email. I was also able to read what has been going on. Thank you to all who responded. I am just happy to have you all back again!!!!

Don't know what happened but you are all back!!!!!!!

Can someone tell me what is going on with LJ? I went to my Friends page today and all my entries were gone with some message that I had no friends defined. Yet, I went into my account page and you were all still there. I hope that if I post this you all get it and can maybe enlighten me a bit. I'd been catching up yesterday and read something about journals being deleted. I was going to try and find out more today but all my friends' posts are gone. I've been away for work and must have missed all this. What's happening and where can I go to find out about it? And how do I get all of you back?
